Abstract

The article examines production dynamics and the directions of structural transformation of Uzbekistan's cotton-textile industry. It analyses changes in the output of textiles and clothing, cotton yields, and the geographical and commodity structure of exports. The study finds that growth in the value of output and higher yields are accompanied by substantial deliveries to foreign markets, while exports remain concentrated in a few countries and product groups. It is shown that, alongside finished goods, cotton yarn remains a major export item. Vertical integration, cooperation with farmers, the introduction of agricultural technologies, digitalisation and product diversification are considered as directions for developing cotton-textile clusters. The article concludes that the performance of clusters should be assessed not only by output volumes but also by the depth of raw material processing and the structure of manufactured products.
