Abstract

The article examined the mechanisms for forming sustainable development strategies of regions based on green economy principles. The author synthesised the UNEP and OECD concepts, the theory of decoupling economic growth from resource use and environmental pressure, and approaches of strategic spatial planning, and interpreted a green strategy as a self-correcting management cycle. The targets of Uzbekistan’s Strategy for the Transition to a Green Economy for 2019-2030, the 2022 implementation measures and the “Uzbekistan - 2030” Strategy were compared. Using IRENA data, the dynamics of renewable energy capacity and the degree of attainment of the strategic target were calculated. According to the calculations, in 2025 the degree of attainment of the strategic target reached 35.1%, while the share of non-hydro sources reached 75.7%. As a result, a mechanism model integrating principles, potential assessment, target indicators, green investment, implementation and monitoring was developed, and proposals for improving regional green strategies were substantiated.
