Abstract

The article examined waste management and recycling development using international experience and data from Uzbekistan. Secondary sources, statistical grouping, structural analysis, scenario comparison and a national case study were employed. Global waste volumes, management costs and European recycling rates were compared. Uzbekistanʼs recycling growth during 2017-2020 was reviewed. Circular economy scenarios highlighted opportunities for reducing costs and improving resource efficiency. Expanded collection coverage, source separation, producer responsibility and sustainable financing were identified as priorities. Recommendations addressed digital payments, monitoring and statistical reporting. Findings were interpreted with attention to differences in observation periods and measurement methods across the sources used in the analysis.
