Abstract

The article examined institutional and economic mechanisms for reducing regional disparities through renewable energy infrastructure development in Uzbekistan. Institutional comparison, regional project grouping, and income comparisons were applied. An income weighted capacity location index and the capacity share in regions with below average incomes were calculated for selected solar and wind projects. Including the Kungrad project increased these regionsʼ share within the portfolio. A conceptual model integrated auctions, power purchase agreements, guarantees, and grid infrastructure. Local employment, household income, and budget revenues were identified as potential impact channels. Recommendations addressed regional monitoring, infrastructure development, and training specialists for renewable energy.
