Abstract

The article examined the relationship between economic growth and carbon dioxide emissions amid Uzbekistan’s green finance development. World Bank data for 2000-2023 supported carbon intensity analysis, Tapio elasticity calculations and structural break regressions. Robustness was assessed using alternative period boundaries and excluding the pandemic year. Carbon intensity declined over time, while changes in the relationship after 2019 were not statistically significant. Findings were interpreted considering limited observations and financing implementation lags. Recommendations addressed recording green financial flows, monitoring energy indicators and extending data coverage. Additional observations were considered necessary to assess the direct causal contribution of green finance to emissions decoupling.
