Abstract

This article presents a comprehensive scientific analysis of the modern classification of renewable energy sources (RES), their resource and technical potential, the statistical dynamics and economic competitiveness of the global energy system, as well as the latest scientific and technological innovations in cost-effective eco-friendly technologies. The study discusses recent achievements in solar, wind, hydro, geothermal and bioenergy - including perovskite-tandem photovoltaic cells, green hydrogen electrolysers, energy storage systems and AI-driven smart-grid solutions. A comparative analysis is carried out based on the 2024-2026 statistical and economic indicators (installed capacity, levelised cost of electricity - LCOE, avoided fossil-fuel costs) of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) and official sources of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The article concludes with the economic, ecological and institutional challenges of the energy transition and evidence-based recommendations for overcoming them. The results show the dominant share of solar and wind power in new capacity and the rapid growth of renewable energy in Uzbekistan. The proposed directions cover greater grid flexibility, the deployment of energy storage systems and the development of human capacity.
