Abstract

The article examines ways of assessing the impact of labour productivity factors on production efficiency in the building materials industry. It is argued that the industryʼs recent growth has been driven mainly by new capacity, so the quality of growth - the share attributable to labour productivity - now needs to be measured. Productivity factors are grouped into technical-technological, organisational, socioeconomic and industry-specific categories, each with measurable indicators. Four assessment approaches - the index method, factor analysis by chain substitution, a correlation-regression model and integral scoring - are compared, and an algorithm for their combined use is proposed. Using a hypothetical cement plant, it is shown that 89.6% of output growth came from productivity, while working time losses offset almost one fifth of the gain from the technical factor. Productivity growing faster than wages reduced unit cost by 0.40%. Based on the results, proposals are made to include productivity factors in reporting, introduce the OEE indicator and link wages to the productivity index.
