Abstract

The article theoretically examined destination image and the information sources involved in its formation. Theoretical synthesis, systematisation and comparative analysis were applied. Sources were organised according to destination control and perceived consumer credibility. A possible inverse association between these criteria was presented conceptually. Visitor experiences, independent reviews and marketing communications were examined alongside the temporal characteristics of image change and measurement coverage. Recommendations included combining structured questionnaires with open questions, distinguishing respondents by visitation experience and conducting repeated measurements. Service quality, transparent communication and regular monitoring were integrated into proposed management directions. The proposals provided a theoretical basis for subsequent empirical research.
